{neighs} Pippi and Pipette

>> Monday, April 26, 2010

As many of you know I am a horse girl through and through. I grew up around these magnificent animals and haven't stopped loving them since. Tigo was my best friend since the moment I met him. We did everything together, spend hours after school riding, training and every weekend at a horse show some where throughout the US.

Recently he had to be put down after 25 glorious years. So when the 'Pippi' pattern came in by Melly and Me I found it fitting to make some of these up, one as a tribute. I love making anything 'horsey' and especially something this cute! Let me introduce Pippi and Pipette!

I made some slight modifications to the pattern for my 2nd one (black Pippi) because I wanted to make him more like Tigo was, more like an Arabian. I made his back a bit less swayed and tried to make his face less droopy. I left his tail dragging on the ground and left his mane and forelock longer. I also didn't match him up. You'll notice both sides of him are different. So much character, just like Tigo!

For Tigo (black one) I used Momo's new line for Moda called Oz. For the other Pippi (Pipette), I used fabrics from Patty Young's Mezzanine with Heather Bailey's Pop Garden zig zag stripe for the hooves.

Happy Stitching xx

what a beautiful tribute. I know how sad it can be when you lose a life long friend, and riding buddy. x
