On a Roll...at least for now.

I have always had this fascination with jelly rolls and never had a great plan for them. I just think they are so cute all rolled up, plus you can't quite imagine how much fabric is in them. They are almost like a diamond in the rough! I finally picked out a pattern that I liked, so I thought I'd give this pre-cut craziness a try. I've been saving my Wonderland by Momo jelly roll looking for just the right project. I simply love the Wonderland line, so I was excited to get this quilt going. I chose Pickety Sticks from the book On A Roll Again! by Ankas Treasures.
What I love most about this line is the scissors fabric. What sewer doesn't love fabric with scissors on it?! Especially the pea green print. I am normally a blue girl, but lately I have been all about pea soup green. It's fabulous! I also love how Momo paired fuchsia with pea green, and just about every other color you can think of.
The center of the quilt is foundation pieced on a muslin back, making the quilt a bit heavier, so I decided to go with the home dec weight border. I chose the large main print, with the red backing for the border and decided to go a bit larger than the book says, to show the beauty of the print.
I love the way this quilt turned out! I put a flannel from Anna Maria Horner's Folksy Flannels collection on the back because of the great screamin' green/yellow color and I like heavy quilts. The flannel paired with the home dec border and the muslin backed center makes this quilt heavier than most. I love that.
I quilted this on my mothers HQ Avante' and I must say the new track system on the studio table is smooth as butter! I love the new system and at the same price as a HQ16! I just can't get enough of it and can't wait to use it again. I followed the flower pattern on the outside border and did swirls and curls in the center. It will be the perfect addition to my bed!
