{Quilt} Modern Baby Boy Coins
>> Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Recently I have been loving the modern quilt movement, and the strong influence of white sashing contrasted against vibrant colors. I decided to make a little baby boy quilt, so I could showcase some fabrics in the store and make another pattern while I am at it. I also wanted to try putting a few of our new Kona solids on the back, mixed in with scraps from the font. (We ordered ALL of the Kona solids, yes all 221 solids in every color one can think of!) I couldn't wait to see the end result and I am so glad this little boy quilt is done. Its just SO modern and fabulous.
I chose to all over meander the quilt on the HQ Avante' which made the quilting go rather quickly, and I echoed the wool applique on the back. The elephant is just so precious.
I have been working on so many little projects right now, so it feels good to check one more off the list.
Other more recent finished projects:
Lugg's Dog Bed. (Mitchell's Yellow Lab) I had to go with corduroy this time from our sunday trip to SR Harris. This is the 3rd and final bed I am making him. Ugh, Puppies! He's such a lucky boy, with his name embroidered on it and everything! (sorry for the over exposure..)
Anna Maria Horner Socialite Dress, made with her Volumes home dec fabric. (Pictures to come!)
Inked (tattoo girls) frame up quilt with large home dec border. (Pictures to come!)
Still in the works:
Stepping stones table runner made with Heather Bailey Pop Garden fabric
Carolina Patchworks Uptown Girl Quilt (Finished 3 1/2" pieced blocks! I am doing at least 1 per day.) Made with Moda Whimsey fabrics so cute!
Whimsey Sunggle Flower Applique quilt
Camera Bag from Sew Liberated with caribbean corduroy and good folks fabric
Fresh Cut String quilt, well two exactly the same quilt tops for my best friend and I (graduation gift)
Anna Maria Horner Evening Empire Dress made with her voiles (I can't wait!)
Whew! There has to be more that I am missing, it seems like I always have a ton going! After Spring Quilt Market this past weekend I have a ton more I want to sew, thats the bad part about buying patterns right then and there! I have a ton of picture to post from market, great booths, new patterns, cute ideas and much more. I'll compile those asap and post them in the next few days.
xx Happy Stitching

Love all your quilts! I found your blog from the MSP Modern Quilt Guild... wondering where your shop is?
that quilt is awesome! love the elephant and the colours and style is fantastic.
badlandsquilts-
Thank you so much! I am having a blast getting all these great fabrics in the store and I am blessed with the freedom to quilt anything! My mother and I run Country Fabrics and Quilting in Brainerd, MN. The whole upper level of the store has been converted into contemporary heaven! Come see it sometime if you get a chance.
Sparrow Bee- I am thinking the elephant is the next 'big' animal, once the owl phase is up :)

Do you sale quilts? Is it possible to pay to have you make this quilt for me? Thanks.
