{Quilts} Good Folks Kitchen Window
>> Monday, March 7, 2011
I am finally done with my Good Folks Kitchen Window quilt and I totally, absolutely love it. It's made with all my favorite fabrics from Good Folks, Garden Party, and Drawing Room (Home Dec).
I used a jade corduroy that I previously used on my fabulous hooded scarf for the window panes. I chose to use osnaburg for the sashing because of the soft feel and texture. (and because I'm a little obsessed with it)
I made my outer border a little wider (2") so I could hand stitch a few times around the outer edge. I have 3 so far, but I think I might spend some time and add two more, for a total of 5. I used Valdani Perle cottons, size 8..I really like the heavier threads for my big stitch hand quilting.
I put my favorite shot cotton on the back and quilted straight lines throughout the quilt. It was a bit tricky to keep the osnabug straight while quilting, but I pinned often and the HQ Avante' did a great job tackling it. I wanted a bright binding so I put a Kaufman pink circle on for the binding. It's pink...and it makes me happy!
This one will stay with me at home, which almost never happens so I'm thrilled. In fact I'm using it right now and its fabulous.
